1 Kings 8:59-61 9 Let these words of mine, with which I pleaded before the LORD, be near to the LORD our God day and night, and may he maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel, as each day requires; 60 so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God; there is no other. 61 Therefore devote yourselves completely to the LORD our God, walking in his statutes and keeping his commandments, as at this day.”
When you have a concern do you fight to make your concern known or do you give up after a time? Do you have the kind of staying power to make things happen or do you give in to the will of others? When things don’t seem to be going your way do you assume that they aren’t to be and give up: defeated and resigned?
When we have concerns we are to take them to the Lord persistently. We mustn’t let the slowness of God’s response defeat us in our petitioning. We do not know what God is doing in the pleading time to make things happen for us.
If we are committed to our cause we need to remain fervent in prayer. We must be as committed to God as we are to our cause. As we trust completely in God’s faithfulness, it is then that God will work things together for our good. God will receive the glory and praise.
Lord, help us remain committed to you as we plead our cause before you. May our desires be in keeping with your will and bring you glory. Amen.
