Psalm 86:11 11 Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart to revere your name.
Oftentimes we find ourselves at odds in our own thoughts. We know what is right but we desire to do something else. We try to do what we should but we also try to get out of doing it in any way possible. We want to sleep in instead of exercising. We want to eat dessert and candy when we shouldn’t. We choose high calorie foods over fruits and vegetables. The list never ends.
We also struggle with a divided heart when it comes to our faith in God. We know the things that God wants us to do but we are reticent to do them. We know the things God doesn’t want us to do and yet we desire to do those very things. We aren’t consistent in our prayer life, our reading of the scriptures, our worship habits. We even come up with excuses to justify our behavior.
If we put our trust in God he will cure our divided heart. We will find ourselves wanting to be in his presence more and more. We will find our desires meeting our understanding of what is necessary to walk in God’s ways. We will be blessed.
Lord, make our divided hearts whole. Give us the desire to follow your ways and walk in your love. Amen.
